Bait using flattened out mackerel or cat food placed under the cage directly under the treadle, this will prevent the cat from taking the bait without setting off the trap.

Setting Place thumb on lever with the spring attached to right of cage (cage door facing you) press firmly down this will unlock and open door.  Place you left hand inside the door opening, whilst holding the door to the roof of the cage, with your finger(s) through the bars, and grasp the end of the setting rod attached to the treadle, place the end of the setting rod just through the open part at the base of the door, remove your left hand slowly and  release the door. The door should now be suspended by the setting bar, the treadle should be at approximately 30°

Checking the trap
Once the trap is set it must, by UK law, be visited at least once a day. We would recommend more frequent checking; in woodland situations early in the morning and again before dark; in gardens, check every few hours. If the bait is being eaten and the trap is not being tripped the probable reason are that mice or similar small animals are taking the bait the animals are not heavy enough to trip the trap, if you suspect this is happening raise the trap clear of the gound

We live in a society where nobody says thank you anymore - so I wanted to put that right by saying a big thank you to all concerned in the above order no. From the start of the transaction to the arrival of the cat trap in Spain the service was exceptional.
All my emails were answered promptly and with courtesy. I know you probably don't have contact with DHL direct but again the delivery service was superb. My friend in Spain can now trap the local feral cats, have them neutered and return them to their surroundings knowing that the cat population of her area will be reduced.
